KKD shouldn’t have commented on his son coming out as gay - Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Celebrity legal practitioner Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has waded into the ongoing brouhaha concerning ace media personality KKD’s son’s gay sexuality.

Darkwah Kyei Darkwah, son of KKD, in an interview with intomore.com, which was republished by NEWS-ONE on Thursday and later published by several other news platforms in Ghana, opened up to being gay.

He indicated he has been gay since he was in primary school but had to hide it from his parents and family.

Speaking on the First Show with Annie Afua Ampofo on Monday, Mr. Ampaw stated that in his own opinion, KKD shouldn’t have commented on the issue. According to him, KKD is an Ashanti man whose culture prevents him embracing homosexuality.

‘I’ve advised KKD not to allow his son come to Ghana now…if he decides to come now, there are three things that will happen to him; he cannot enjoy life; first thing is, he cannot marry because it’s against our law. Our marriage ordinance prohibits it. Secondly, he cannot also enjoy any sexual relationship because the law will not allow you have anal sex. He will be monitored. Thirdly, our brothers in the Islamic world hate lesbianism and gayism with some level of passion and if he dares go to the north, he will not have it easy. His father is a celebrity and once he has come out, he will find it difficult to enjoy his rights. So that’s why I advised KKD not to allow his son come into the country now, he should stay in London and enjoy himself,’ he said

The Private legal practitioner continued by saying; ‘I thought KKD shouldn’t have commented on the issue. He should have just kept quiet because he being an Ashanti man and knowing that his culture is against gayism, he shouldn’t have commented on it.’
